2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee driveline noise. As I conveyed to Arron by telephone today (8-5/20), I was charged $113.00 for a diagnosis that recommended complete replacement of the NV140 transfer case along with complete replacement of the front driveshaft. I was told these were a integral assembly and both items must be replaced together as a unit. Total estimate was well over $2000.00 dollars. The actual problem was a worn out CV Joint that is between the transfer case and driveshaft. The cost of the CV Joint is $150.00 and is a very common component failure on these vehicles. The transfer case has since been checked out by another shop and confirmed it is in good running condition. Teplaced the CV Joint and the car performs properly now.
